American artists Ania Catherine and Dejha Ti form the award-winning duo Operator. Established in 2016, their collaborative practice merges Ti’s expertise as an immersive artist and HCI technologist with Catherine’s background as a choreographer, performance artist, and gender scholar. This unique combination results in highly immersive and experimental conceptual works infused with poetry and grace, seamlessly integrating environments, technology, and the body.
Their primary focus is on exploring themes such as surveillance capitalism, privacy, transparency, and technology. A notable piece, part of the ABS collection, is “Human Unreadable,” which features an on-chain generative choreography method. This method will be documented and shared in a white paper on Metalabel.
Operator has received numerous accolades, including The Lumen Prize for Immersive Environments.
