Born in Liverpool in 1975, Reuben Wu is a multi-talented British artist, musician and photographer. Active in music, with the group Ladytron, Reuben embraced photography as a means of documenting life on tour and connecting his childhood fascination with landscapes and outer space.
National Geographic recognised his talent, which featured his image of Stone Henge, illuminated by a fleet of drones to challenge people’s perspectives of places, as their August 2022 cover. The image went on to win “Online Storytelling Project of the Year” in the Pictures of the Year International Competition.
Created in April 2022, Fourteenth Century is a collection of 201 still frames from a short film utilising in-camera lighting’s interaction with the rugged American desert landscape. The unique collection, minted on the Ethereum blockchain, evokes the iconic opening scene of Stanley Kubrick’s ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ and reflects Wu’s personal fascination with science fiction.
A percentage of the proceedings from the sale of The Fourteenth Century Series go to a fund focused on investing in blockchain projects that drive innovation, sustainability, and futurism, illustrating Wu’s deep commitment to the sector.
