Omar Z. Robles’ first array into the arts, performing, and storytelling finds its origin in his mentor: Marcel Marceau. The French mime under which Omar learned to interpret the world through movements and which will later be the foundation of his photographs.
Omar’s vision and style was honed through years shooting street photography and artists, musicians, policymakers and athletes for various media outlets such as The Chicago Tribune, or Metro San Juan.
The combination of his academic and professional background gave way to a signature aesthetic in his photographs that combine the ruggedness of urban landscapes with the grace of dance. A suspension of time, as movements flow through concrete jungles, a dichotomy encapsulating the stories behind a city, a district, a street. A reminder that art can be found all around us.
Omar’s work has been recognized by Instagram’s Blog, My Modern Met, Mashable, The Huffington Post, The Daily Mail, Design Taxi, and Harper’s Bazaar, and more.
