Elman Mansimov

Elman Mansikov

Elman Mansimov is an American scientist and researcher in the field of machine learning.

Mansimov earned his PhD at New York University. His research has been particularly influential in the development of sequence-to-sequence models and recurrent neural networks, as well as in exploring the connection between language and vision.

While in 2015 neural networks could create images-to-text captions, the opposite was not true. But that year, 19 year-old Elman Mansimov developed what is widely considered to be the first text-to-image artworks with his alignDRAW model.  The series is categorised in two editions: paper prompts and process prompts, to which this artwork belongs.

The piece currently in ABS’ collection corresponds to the following prompt: “An airplane flying off into the distance on a clear day”.

The NFT editions are minted fully on-chain from their original files and the print editions scaled’ to faithfully preserve the  original pixelation.
