Irish conceptual artist Kevin Abosch’s practice stands at the crossroads of traditional media and generative methods. His work often tackles concepts such as identity and value, often addressing and questioning the sociological contradictions on which current systems are built.
A pioneer, his notoriety spans from his use of traditional media and exploration of digital frontiers to develop his art. Initially trained as a biologist, Abosch dived into the world of machine learning through a first interest in the visualization of laboratory analysis and samples. Could a computer be trained on thousands of tests and data sets to produce more accurate results? Two years acquiring experience and working with code, computer and early AI provided him with the skills to leverage his scientific background to develop his creative endeavors.
An accomplished photographer, from Yoko Ono to Malala, Kevin has immortalized leading figures through his lens and recognizable black background. In 2015, his photography “Potato #345” sold for 1 million dollars, making it the most expensive photograph ever sold.
